„Social“ Media started out with the promise of bringing people together. Today, it seems to be doing the opposite.

We keep scrolling and scrolling but real connection is rarely found at the bottom of a feed. Nevertheless, „Social“ Media is great at keeping us hooked. And this not a coincidence, it’s deeply woven into the very fabric of these platforms. Because the companies behind Instagram, TikTok and Co. harvest our attention to sell it to the highest bidder.

In this workshop we take a closer look at how „Social“ Media platforms are designed to exploit human psychology and keep us hooked. Even when we know it’s not good for us.
