Daniel Saraga
Daniel Saraga studied physics at EPFL and earned a PhD in theoretical physics at University College London. After a postdoc at the University of Basel in quantum computing, he moved into science communication in 2007: he wanted to step beyond a narrow specialty and engage more closely with society.
In Basel, Daniel founded the Cafés Scientifiques and the KidsLab. He later worked as a writer and project lead at the communications agency Largenetwork in Geneva. From 2015 to 2019, he headed science communication at the Swiss National Science Foundation and served as editor-in-chief of Horizons.
For science.lu, Daniel has been writing mainly “Science Checks” since 2021—deep dives into what science knows (and doesn’t know) about a given topic. He also shortens and simplifies science.lu texts for L’Essentiel. His credo: tell stories without getting lost in them—clear, accurate, with strong quotes and a good beginning and ending. In winter, he swims in the Rhine, enjoys cooking, and debates far too long with his teenage children.
